Biden’s climate plans are delusional and unworkable; high fuel prices could kill the Deal
The Green New Deal is a massive wealth transfer plan in the name of 'environmental racism justice,' the disproportionate impact of environmental hazards on people of color.
The genesis of our country’s unaffordable energy costs can be linked directly to President Biden’s 27 January 2021 Executive Order: “It is the policy of my Administration to organize and deploy the full capacity of its agencies to combat the climate crisis to implement a government-wide approach that reduces climate pollution in every sector of the economy.”
President Biden ordered the entire federal bureaucracy into full-battle mode in a crusade to suppress the production and use of fossil fuels.
Biden’s Day One plans include a temporary moratorium on new Trump administration oil and gas leasing in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, moving to revoke a presidential permit for the Keystone XL oil and gas pipeline, and reviewing a Trump administration freeze on vehicle mileage and emissions standards.
Agencies were directed to consider the impact of climate change on disadvantaged communities and on future generations from any regulatory action that affected fossil fuel emissions, a new requirement.
Biden’s plan includes establishing an Environmental and Climate Justice Division within the Department of Justice. House Democrats rolled out a 500-page plan to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. The 120-bill proposal was really about “environmental justice” and was shaped by a Sen. Bernie Sanders-Biden Unity Task Force co-chaired by U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, she of the $93 trillion Green New Deal fame.
With a focus on environmental justice – i.e., a wealth transfer from one segment of society to another – this delusional proposal imagines a carbon emissions-free power sector by 2035, the electrification of the ground-based transportation sector, and a net-zero emissions standard for commercial buildings by 2030. However, the consequence will be that the U.S. loses its energy independence and EVs become unaffordable.
Biden, who once suggested jail time for oil and gas executives, proposed a plan which demonizes our industry’s leaders by calling for a government-imposed reduction in executive pay for companies that “shift the environmental burdens of their actions onto taxpayers.” Biden continues to falsely blame executive greed for the high prices at the pump.
Biden’s climate crisis solution is delusional and unworkable. The administration appears to be completely unaware that renewables cannot replace fossil fuels without massive amounts of battery or other storage that will soar to unaffordable levels over the next decade. And yet, the administration kept the government-wide fossil fuel suppression campaign going at full tilt over the last 18 months.
Biden’s plan threatens American energy independence by limiting new leasing for hydrocarbon extraction on public lands and putting 30% of all federal lands and ocean areas off-limits to development by 2030. The plan calls for all cars sold in the U.S. to be electric by 2035 and electricity generation to be net-zero emissions by 2040 while pairing a carbon market with investment in “environmental justice communities.”
With China wanting to double its middle class from 400 million to 800 million, guess which country will suck up the most lithium and other commodities? The math doesn't add up for the climate zealots who continue to push a delusional Green New Deal agenda. The Deal is a Trojan horse designed to massively redistribute wealth and transform America into big government socialism.
Americans will continue to suffer from unaffordable energy costs as long as the climate zealots are in power. This November’s election results will determine our future climate change policies. Let’s hope it’s a chilly November for the Democrats.
Here is a robust analysis of the Green New Deal I wrote in Feb 2019 titled The Cultural Revolution American-Style: The Green New Deal Destroys America in a Delusional Pursuit of Social Justice and Climate Control.
