People are fleeing overwhelmed sanctuary cities like New York City...regardless of the rats
U.S. Customs and Border Protection data revealed 14,509 immigrants were encountered by federal law enforcement at the southern border on Monday.
People and businesses are voting with their feet and moving to better governed cities and states. Domestic migration is strongly correlated with government competency and political affiliation. High taxes, soaring crime, homelessness and drug addiction are the primary reasons people and businesses are moving. They want a better quality of life for their families and employees.
Sanctuary cities are now overwhelmed with illegal immigrants and now must cut public services to cover the soaring and unsustainable costs to house, feed, and provide health services to non-Americans. Higher taxes required to cover the costs will drive out even more people and businesses.
Internal U.S. Customs and Border Protection data revealed 14,509 immigrants were encountered by federal law enforcement at the southern border on Monday. The large majority of encounters were of immigrants who walked around the port of entry and crossed into the country illegally. Border patrol is overwhelmed with what can only be called an invasion.
New York lost the most residents in the past year compared to any other state in the country, according to new U.S. Census Bureau data released Tuesday.
Of the eight states that saw their populations fall in 2023, New York lost the most, seeing 101,984 people depart the Empire State.
That was followed by California, which lost 75,423 residents, Illinois, which lost 32,826, and Louisiana, at 14,274. Pennsylvania saw 10,408 residents leave the state. South Carolina and Florida were the two fastest-growing states in the nation, growing by 1.7% and 1.6%, respectively, in 2023.
The Democratic mayor of NY City, Eric Adams, said that there has been "perfect storm" of reasons why people are leaving New York City-including the cost of living, COVID-19, remote job opportunities along with the ongoing rat infestation.
The cost of living is soaring in the Big Apple because of overregulation, high taxes, soaring crime, and an unsustainable number of immigrants flooding into the city. Getting rid of the rat infestation will not solve the mayor’s budget and illegal immigration problems.
