Rhetorical manipulation and the drift toward foolish thoughts and political anarchy
The word on the street is that the Disney Princess has died. What type of human (pronoun?) will replace this young girl?
The left is honing its skills with Newspeak, Orwell’s fictional language in his dystopian novel 1984. A woman is no longer a woman. A man is no longer a man if he wants to wear a dress and be a woman. Truth is being replaced with a narrative that no longer makes sense. Even Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, the first black woman nominated to the Supreme Court, refused to define the word “woman” because, as she put it, “I’m not a biologist.” I’m not a veterinarian. Does that mean I don’t know the difference between a cat and dog? If Judge Jackson doesn’t know what a woman is, how can she rule on abortion rights? The 19th Amendment lists ‘sex’ as a prohibited basis for discrimination against voting rights, and abortion advocates sometimes argue that the propensity of women to get pregnant means that gender equity requires a right to abortion, so defining what a woman is, by biological definition, is not only relevant; it’s essential.
These days, if anyone says a man who wants to wear a dress and be a woman is biologically a woman, they know as much about facts as they know about the facts of life. As an example, Twitter locked the account of The Babylon Bee after jokingly awarding Rachel Levine, the transgender Biden administration official, the title of “Man of the Year.” Twitter says it will restore the account, which has more than 1.3 million followers if the Bee deletes the tweet, but CEO Seth Dillon says he has no intention of doing so. “Truth is not hate speech.” We might also add: “Neither is a joke.”
Rachel Levine, a Biden administration official, is The Babylon Bee’s “Man of the Year.”
Are girls being discriminated against because they have no standing in the LGBTQIA+ world? The word on the street is that the Disney Princess has died. What type of human (pronoun?) will replace this young girl? According to a Disney ‘spoker’ (i.e., spokeswoman), many are just now seeing the introduction of I&A, which stands for “intersex” and “asexual” (the “A” can also stand for “ally”—those who stand by this community), which may also have a + sign to include those who may not feel they identify with the above categories. Confused? Join the club.
The hypocrisy should be self-evident. They make everything about race and gender—until all we see is race and gender. They create problems and call them solutions. The left is destroying our country’s daughters, the top fans of the Disney princess.
Agree with us or be silenced
If your truth is not in line with the left’s narrative, you are peddling false information and therefore must be silenced. Make sense? No, it does not, for most of us, but for the left censorship is required to achieve their radical agendas and to maintain power. That was Orwell’s point in 1984: control language and you control the people. The modern left is the fusion of the mainstream media, Silicon Valley (social media), the radical new Democratic Party, and the vestigial Hillary Clinton machine.
We have been indoctrinated with a progressive linguistic sleight of hand. Words like equity, discrimination, woman, man, racism, and systemic have been imbued with new artificial meanings. Multicultural inclusiveness, as an example, means the exclusion of male heterosexual Caucasians.
Orwell’s recurring theme in 1984 is to connect authoritarian regimes with doctrinaire language. In his Politics and the English Language written 70 years ago, Orwell presciently stated, “A man may take to drink because he feels himself to be a failure, and then fail all the more completely because he drinks. It is rather the same thing that is happening to the English language. It becomes ugly and inaccurate because our thoughts are foolish, but the slovenliness of our language makes it easier to have foolish thoughts.” The new woke lingua franca goes hand-in-hand with an abject decline in human thought and the shape-shifting of human intention through rhetorical manipulation. Speakers, as well as listeners, will eventually drift toward political anarchy, as is happening now.
In the competitive marketplace of ideas, the best ideas flourish. But only if it’s a free market, unconstrained from government influence and the [fact-checker] censors employed by the left. Social media block or restrict narratives based on the censor’s ‘opinion’, which is influenced by big tech’s political views. Big tech influences government (campaign contributions) and government, in turn, supports big tech in a dizzying incestuous pas de deux—a reinforcing feedback loop where everyone at the top benefits, but only if they can control and shape the narratives. Mainstream media and its many talking heads, for the most part, are unwitting pawns who simply parrot what is formulated at the top.
The left insists on dividing America into white and non-white, rich and poor, urban and rural, bourgeois and proletariat, oppressed and oppressor, gay and straight, winners and losers. They divide everyone into tribes—collectives not persons—and play the oppressed and victims for political power purposes. Slice and dice and break down the hierarchies of power, including the nuclear family. Men competing as women against women will mean that no biological woman will ever again win top honors in a sport. It is simply unfair to allow transgender women to compete in women’s sports—they have more testosterone, which makes them faster, stronger, taller, on average, and perhaps even more determined and competitive. Hormones do not reason; they are the result of millions of years of evolution and simply do.
That does not mean we should ignore people’s choices about how to present themselves: in defending women’s rights, we need not harm transgender rights. But where rights clash, we must consider a group’s broader rights—in this case, the right to be a woman, with all of the childhood, teenage and adult experiences that being a woman implies. Our mothers, daughters, sisters and aunts have fought long and hard for recognition and equality. No amount of Doublespeak should dilute their unique and celebrated identity as women.
