The Afghanistan Withdrawal: The Most Ignoble Day in all of US Military History
Years ago, Harris bragged she was, “the last person in the room with Joe Biden” when they planned the disastrous betrayal, calling it a “extraordinary success.”
The horrific consequences of the disastrous withdrawal from Afgahanistan and weak leadership encouraged Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. We cannot say that Biden caused the invasion, but we can say that he sent ambiguous messages to the Kremlin and Beijing's leadership
Biden assured Americans that a Taliban takeover of Afghanistan was “not inevitable,” and denied that U.S. intelligence assessed that the Afghan government would likely collapse. But it did — and quickly.
When asked about any parallels between the withdrawals from Vietnam and Afghanistan, Biden stated, "None whatsoever. Zero. The Taliban is not the South—the North Vietnamese army. They're not remotely comparable in terms of capability. There will be no circumstance where you'll see people being lifted off the roof of a U.S. embassy in Afghanistan. It is not at all comparable."
Another approach was not only possible but recommended at the time by congressional Republicans and Democrats as well as the president’s own military advisors: Maintain a small contingent of troops—as per Trump's strategy—until the conditions specified in the February 2020 agreement were fully implemented. It was never an exclusive choice between a forever war and total withdrawal.
But Biden chose not to listen. The result was a disastrous and deadly withdrawal and a growing terrorist threat under Taliban rule that has left Afghans, Americans, and the world worse off than they were before.
The catastrophic surrender and withdrawal from Afghanistan sent a message that Biden was weak, feckless, and ineffective. The chaos and incompetence of the withdrawal were stunning. The world looked at Biden and took his measure. A weak president is dangerous. Biden and Harris embolden our enemies.
Joe Biden and his administration have been a disaster on every single issue that matters to Americans. The list of failures is long, and the world is in chaos. And now inflation ravages family budgets as food, energy, and housing costs have soared to historic highs.
The world is less safe because Joe Biden and Kamala Harris sit in the White House.
The following summary of the disastrous Biden-Harris withdrawal from Afghanistan was posted by Dave Belton. The subject title: “A bitter Week.”
Last Week Marked a Bitter Moment, the Odious Anniversary of Abbey Gate
It is perhaps the most ignoble day in all of US military history.
The first disgrace was the treasure that we lost. Biden/Harris gave $82 Billion of US weapons to the same terrorists who brought down the Twin Towers on 911. And we gave up Bagram Air Base, a strategic fortress we could have held forever.
The second disgrace was the callous betrayal of our friends in Afghanistan. We left tens of thousands of loyal Afghans behind…and then told the Taliban where they could find them. All of them are most assuredly dead, and women there have been dragged back into the Dark Ages.
The third disgrace was diplomatic. Our NATO allies fought in Afghanistan on account of the attacks on us during 911. Yet they were given no notice as Biden/Harris shamelessly retreated.
The Chancellor of Germany called them “bitter events” and a “far-reaching miscalculation.” PM Tony Blair called it “imbecilic”, and the British press mourned the death of our “special relationship.” 90 of our own Generals wrote “the consequences of the disaster are enormous and will reverberate for decades” and “China benefits the most.” Even the Left-wing Washington Post called it a “moral failure.”
The Results Have Been Catastrophic
Putin never would have invaded Ukraine if not for the cowardice shown by Biden/Harris.
Hamas would have never attacked Israel in such a horrific manner if Biden/Harris had not enriched and emboldened Iran.
And nations all over the world are now seeking friendship with China, because they know they can’t trust Biden/Harris.
But the most odious failure of Biden/Harris was the needless death of 13 US soldiers at Abbey Gate.
These were their names…
Lance Corporal David Espinoza
Sergeant Nicole Gee
Staff Sergeant Taylor Hoover
Staff Sergeant Ryan Knauss
Lance Corporal Rylee McCollum
Corporal Hunter Lopez
Lance Corporal Dylan Merola
Lance Corporal Kareem Nikoui
Sergeant Johanny Pichardo
Corporal Humberto Sanchez
Corporal Daegan Page
Lance Corporal Jared Schmitz
Seaman Maxton “Max” Soviak
Last week, many of these Gold Star families went to Arlington to mourn their children. They invited Biden/Harris to come, but they refused.
Then, they invited Trump, who graciously accepted.
In an act of pathetic cowardice, Harris criticized Trump for being there.
Biden was at the beach for two weeks and Harris couldn’t be bothered, yet she has the gall to criticize Trump for mourning with victims?
The Gold Star families instantly responded, calling her criticism, “heinous, vile, and disgusting.”
“Your administration killed my son,” said one parent. “You were not at Dover for the dignified transfer…not once have you honored him by saying his name.”
Of course, Biden/Harris have also refused to say Laken Riley’s name.
Another parent tweeted, “Harris never went to Dover AFB when our fallen came home, nor has she reached out to their families. Not once. She is the one politicizing this memorial. Shame on you.”
Harris lacks, “empathy and basic understanding” said another parent, adding, “We were the ones that asked (for Trump to be there).”
“You should be ashamed and embarrassed (about) your lack of empathy and decency” said another parent. “You don’t care for our military or the citizens of our country.”
Another said, “It’s been three years since my son was killed in action, and myself, my family and other Gold Star families have not seen any support from you or your administration.”
Years ago, Harris bragged she was, “the last person in the room with Joe Biden” when they planned the disastrous betrayal, calling it a “extraordinary success.”
“Look at our faces,” said another parent. “Look at our pain, and our heartbreak. And look at our rage. (It) was not an extraordinary success. Biden…owes us an apology.”
Even today, we have American hostages held by Hamas, suffering in underground dungeons.
What is Biden/Harris doing for them?
Like Hillary Clinton, who defiantly claimed, “What difference does it make?” when she allowed the butchery of her own American Ambassador in Benghazi, Biden/Harris have shamefully dodged their sacred responsibility to the parents of the soldiers that they have killed.
