The Atlantic set see themselves as defenders against the barbarians at the gate. The clearest example of the barbarians being the J6 rioters. That event has given them a raisons’etre that will be milked for eternity. That being said they are nkt defenders of freedom and democracy but of a decadent system that has forfeited all moral authority for the precise reason is that they think they are so smart that there is no moral authority and we should just listen to them based on their credentials which guarantee them their place Imin the food chain.

Exactly. The Atlantic isn’t defending democracy—they’re defending a dying aristocracy built on credentialism, narrative control, and moral relativism. J6 is their forever-crutch, a manufactured mythology they weaponize to justify censorship and suppress dissent. They don’t fear barbarians—they fear accountability.

J6 was a helluva own goal though

Exactly right. The Left doesn’t fear authoritarianism—they fear losing control of it. The Atlantic isn’t defending liberty; it’s defending a bloated, credentialed bureaucracy that operates behind classified curtains and moral ambiguity. The King fantasy is projection. What they really fear is a populist revolt against the unelected priesthood of power they've built.
